Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant (Croí Cónaithe/Towns Fund)

  • Up to €50,000 to refurbish a vacant home into your residence or rental.
  • Extra €20,000 top‑up if the property is structurally unsound or derelict—max €70,000.
  • Property must have been empty for at least two years and built before 2008.
  • Grant paid on completion; claw‑back provisions apply.
  • Administered by Dublin City, South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, or Fingal County Council.

Conservation Advice Grant Scheme for Vacant Traditional Farmhouses

    • Covers up to €5,000 (before VAT) for expert advice on restoring old farmhouses.
    • Useful if you’re considering – or already applying for – the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.

    Local Authority Purchase and Renovation Loan (LAPR)

    Housing Aid for Older People Grant

    • Up to €10,700 for essential repairs (roofing, wiring, doors, windows, heating, dry‑lining, sanitation).
    • Means‑tested; primarily for homeowners aged 66+, but younger applicants in hardship cases may qualify.
      • Since Dec 1 2024, full (100 per cent) cover for adaptation work for qualifying households.
    • Full grant for gross income <€37,000; tapered above.

    Housing Adaptation Grant & Mobility Aids Grant

    • Adaptation Grant: Up to €30,000 (95 per cent funded if income <€30,000) for physical, sensory or mental disability adaptations.
    • Mobility Aids Grant: Up to €6,000 (100 per cent if income <€30,000) for installing grab‑rails, access ramps, stair‑lifts, level‑access showers, etc.
    • Income taper applies up to €60,000.

    Thatching Grant

    • Helps repair or rethatch traditional thatched roofs to preserve Dublin’s architectural heritage.
    • Covers full/partial rethatching, repairs, maintenance, and related structural work.
    • You’ll need to hire a qualified thatcher and provide a quote.
    • Open to all owners of thatched properties.

    Lead Remediation Grant

    • Covers the full cost of replacing lead pipes in your home’s water system.
    • Up to €200 available to confirm if pipes are lead.
    • Grants range from €750–€5,000. Minimum spend is €750.
    • Homeowners and long-term tenants (with owner’s consent) can apply – holiday homes excluded.

    Domestic Well Grant

    • Helps repair an existing well or drill a new one if your water supply is poor.
    • Also covers treatment systems like filters or UV units.
    • Covers 85 per cent of costs: up to €3,000 for repairs or €5,000 for a new well; up to 100% (max €1,000) for water treatment.
    • Minimum spend €750; holiday homes excluded.

    Septic Tank Grant

    • Covers repairs, upgrades or replacement of septic tanks.
    • Only applies if issues were flagged in an official inspection or if you’re in a designated priority area.
    • Covers 85 per cent of costs up to €12,000; minimum spend €750.

    SEAI Energy Grants

    Warmer Homes Scheme (Free Upgrades)

    • Free energy upgrades for eligible homeowners on certain social welfare payments.
    • Home must have been built before 2006 with a BER of C or lower.

    Better Energy Homes – Individual Upgrade Grants

    • Grants for insulation (up to €8,000), heat pumps (up to €6,500), solar panels (up to €1,800).
    • You choose and manage upgrades at your own pace.

    One Stop Shop – National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme

    • Full upgrade package managed for you, from insulation to heating and windows.
    • Grants deducted upfront by the provider.

    Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant

    • Up to €300 towards buying and installing a home EV charger.
    • Must have off-street parking and apply before starting any work.
    • Once approved, you have 6 months to complete the installation.

    Protected Structures Grants

    Historic Structures Fund

    • €50,000–€200,000 for major renovation projects (50 per cent match funding required).

    Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS)

    • €2,500–€50,000 covering up to 80 per cent of costs for smaller repair/maintenance works.
