Cedar has long been used as a natural cladding and roofing material however fire regulations mean that it usually must be treated with retardant in order to be used on a house. Like any wood cladding, Cedar will slowly degrade over time but the maintenance is not excessive unless you wish to maintain a particular colour or stop any moss growing in which case you may need to treat it regularly. You will need consider how exposed your site is as this can affect how well any wood cladding performs.
